Hippy, hippy shake

Hello to people who might be linking here from Ephemera! Thanks to Shelia for saying such nice things about me and for giving me a Major Award. I'm chuffed beyond belief to be so honoured - as you can see, I'm in good company. It's nice to have a "twin" on the other side of the country who has such great style and a fun blog. *wonder twin powers - ACTIVATE*

I also want to say thanks to Megan Mae for the Liebster Blog award on December 21. I had every intention of reciprocating but shortly after that I flew home to Ontario to visit with family. I really appreciated being recognized as such a new blogger. Thanks Megan!

January 3
I went back to work today after a 3 day weekend, most of which was spent in bed recovering from some self-inflicted pain. My only New Year's resolution is to not drink that much ever again. You just don't bounce back at 40 like you might have at 20. GRONK!

To celebrate going back to work I put together something that totally didn't work. This is an example of how to make you're hips look huge without even trying. I won't be pairing these pants and top together again.

Top: From a store in Guelph. Not sure of brand.
Necklace: Pretty Chic
Pants: All Saints
Shoes: Dolce and Gabbana Thrifted from Meow

I bought these pants quite a few months ago but had to have them significantly altered to fit without looking like I was wearing my father's pants. I love them though, even if they look awful here.

At least I got to wear these lovelies. I mentioned them on the blog on December 26 but wore them for the first time today.

As a child of the 1980s, I've worn a lot of pointy toed shoes in my time. If bugs need squishing in the corner of a room, I'm your girl, though I wouldn't want to get bug guts on these babies.

Last year I bought some vintage Fluevog tapestry boots off of eBay which also have very pointy toes. Look for them sometime in the near future.

Happy 2012!

  1. Congrats on winning Sheila's Major Award! And the Liebster. I'm happy to have come across your blog.

And one of the major reasons why - I actually love how you wear different silhouettes than "normal". That blouse is gorgeous, and the length of the trousers shows off those gorgeous shoes. I can this same outfit working well with a layered skirt or skinny jeans.

  2. You very much deserved your Major Award!

I agree with Megan - you and I have similar tastes, but the big difference is how you wear silhouettes. I am in deep admiration of how you experiment with shapes on your body (I still have body image issues about my hips from being fat, even though it was 5 years ago - I lost 50 lbs).

Love the pointy toe, and can't wait to see your Fluevogs!
